In Last Rite, there is so much action; you don’t see the time flying and you can’t keep yourself from turning another page, destochers another, then by the time you know it, you have finished the book. Desrochers spends very little time reintroducing characters and events, instead focusing on moving things forward at a lightning-quick speed that leaves us floundering a bit to catch up. And while I love Frannie, wow, she was stupid in this book.

In the midst of everything, Lucifer manages to trick Frannie into going home and then the mother of all showdowns comes into play. Was I stupid to? My emotions were pulled in every direction as I was reading this book. Each week we will be interviewing a different YA author and highlighting their upcoming release!

So there were numerous reasons why I didn’t like this final book. If Frannie wants to keep her family and friends safe, she knows she has no choice but to go on the run. This is one of those love triangles where either guy is a good one and without telling you who she ultimately chooses, it was a good decision on her part. A good author can create a swoon-worthy love interest without resorting to cheap measures, just look at Tod in the Soul Screamers series, Terrible in the Downside Ghosts series or Clay and Lucas from the Women of the Otherworld series.
