I was quite, quite intrigued to read it too. I was thinking it was just me but I read other reviews being a hyper-critical editor. I find the sentence constructions to be so–dense and clearly missing both whole words and punctuation. I will finish it. But I wonder if anyone else here agrees? Casey I thought the same thing- the sentence structure was wacky to say the least.

I felt like I was repeating sentences a couple of times to just understand what he was trying to say and how he was trying to say it. Who edited this book???? However, I am liking the story quite a bit. I only grovf a few episodes on Netflix grkve starting the book. This question contains spoilers… view spoiler [Hi!

Someone could please answer some questions about differences between the TV series and the book so I can decide if I should read it?

Maybe it was because of the show. Maybe he gave the ideas of the second novel to Netflixs. I’m not sure, but either way i’m happy they kept going after season 1. Hope hemllock answered your question. There’s a standard question people ask in interviews: I had no idea this book was going to go most of the places that it went, and I failed to catch even the giant broad hints it threw at me.

And even this might be saying too much. It is so wonderful to be surprised so thoroughly, I do not want to mess that up for anyone. Paradoxically, although I want to read this book again for the first time, I also want to read it again for the second time, knowing what I now know. The book invites comparison, and comparison might be the only safe way to sell it without blowing it for the reader: A few brisn twisted graphic novels come to mind.

And Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania is kind of like Forks, Washington, or it is like a version of Forks in which Bella mcgeeevy Jacob and whatshisname aren’t such a bunch of saps. You may not fall in love with Brian McGreevy’s characters – not all of them anyway – but they are complex and likable and hateable and maddening and fascinating all the same.

Jan 09, Michael Clark rated it it was ok. I’m glad other reviewers have pointed out the problems with basic mcgrsevy of punctuation and point of view in this novel. They are so often frustrating and distracting that it robs the novel of whatever interest it might have. Two things recommend it: Broan than that, it’s confusing, it has characters that do stuff for no reason that’s ever clear, it reeks from the odor I’m glad other reviewers have pointed out the problems with basic rules of punctuation and point of view in this novel.

Other than that, it’s confusing, it has characters that do stuff for no reason that’s ever clear, it reeks from the odor of thousands of red herrings, and just when things tend to get interesting, the chapter will seem grkve skip like scratched DVD and you’ll be left wondering what the heck is going on. The thing strains plausibility from mcgresvy get-go, and that’s not always a problem in this genre, but when you set your Mcgreevt horror in a “normal small town in Pennsylvania,” you have to have a few regular humans respond to the horrific goings-on.

For example, the “Frankenstein’s Monster” character named Shelley, heh heh is seven feet tall, glows in the dark, is mute, has gray skin, and walks around with her feet in clear plastic cubes filled with potting btian I know, right?

But she goes to high school every day, pulled in a wagon behind her brother’s Jaguar. No “muggle” character in the novel seems to think any of this is unusual. I had high hopes for this novel, and I did feel compelled to finish it just to see what happens at the end, but it seems designed to be a miniseries and not a novel. Go read Salem’s Lot instead–a better treatment of this sort of thing.

It was unique and memorable. But the negative side was that there were a ton of unanswered grobe and dangling plot points. Then someone says to me, “Hey, there’s a book, you know? Side by side comparison, forget reading the book.

This is one of those scenarios where the show is better than the book. TV series was executed better, but only slightly. Roman The sex scene between Roman and the girl in the beginning is much better in the tv series. He just comes across as mostly bored and getting his itch scratched. In the book, he’s a creepy asshat.

He actually stabs her with a syringe why, IDK. Keep your dictionary handy The words in this story are clunky and just awkward to read.

It was something else, a presence of some kind, dwelling underfoot, no manner of thing under the sun. Is hemlick just me? That sentence makes no sense! There were a couple of times when, in a liminal state on the hammock, a vision would come to him of a snake, a Bible black serpent slowly and sensually consuming itself by the tail.

Of course, I admit that I didn’t know what the definition of liminal meant so I looked it up but was assuming it meant dreaming. Why couldn’t he have said, “Peter often had a dream about a black snake that was eating itself, while napping in the hammock. It doesn’t seem fitting. Peter’s Balls Peter did not know what it was, but something had his balls in a state of agitation. I’d hazard a guess that at 17 everything leaves his balls in a state of agitation, lol. But, the narrator implies that for Peter the gut feeling that something is wrong makes his balls itch, lol.

There’s more references to Peter’s balls mfgreevy how they are sensitive to trouble like some weird ass divining rod 12 times!

Always talking about how his balls itch bemlock his balls were in a state. I personally just think that Peter should go to the doctor for an ointment for jock itch.

Other things that bothered me about the book? The silver axe that Olivia gives to Roman to kill the rogue killer wolf When Peter says that they alway cut the head off of the bodies of dead wolf shifters because “something bad happens if they don’t. Peter smears bacon grease all over his face so the girl could eat it off. I mean, is it his penance for her creation? If that was the case, as it was implied says to figure out what and why there is killing on non-full moons that it will “cost him his human face” then why, when he shifts back to human body later does he not have scars or something.
