I would imagine that the original song is quite different to Balakirev’s transcription – you could compare it to Liszt’s operatic transcriptions when compared with the original pieces I guess How scared rhe I be???????? I think the original should be interesting to compare with the transcription to see what metamorphasis occurred in the conception. I would imagine that the original song is quite lakr to Balakirev’s transcription. I don’t feel I’ve completely mastered anything she’s given to me.
